It's Almost Here...

It's already mid-July, and I am getting excited!  I am ready for another group of kiddos, but I am still nervous about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  I have spent these last weeks reading up on CCSS, and I've been gathering new materials to help me get started.  I absolutely LOVE the Teachers Pay Teachers website.  It has given me so much information and knowledge from teachers that have been teaching with CCSS already.  There are too many teachers to name but a big THANK YOU to all of them that have provided me with this foundation.  I've been downloading like crazy from that site, and I've also spent a small fortune buying things from them too!  All I know is that I am as ready as I can be...

The next few weeks will be spent in my classroom getting it set up in a new way.  Last year was my first year in that classroom so I tried to set it up in a way that was conducive to learning.  I realized that the setup just wasn't working for me so this year I am making changes...We'll see if I can make it look like the images that I see in my head.  I'm going to start fresh...new setup, new students, new curriculum, new ideas...Well you get the point!  Everything is starting new and I am approaching the year with a new outlook too.

The excitement is growing, and the countdown has begun...August 6th is the first day of school for the kiddos, and that is just around the corner.  Something tells me that these last few weeks are going to fly by...

Summertime

Summer is finally here, and the temperature in Louisiana is HOT!  I am enjoying my break from school by working on school stuff for the 2012-2013 school year!  There is never really a break for teachers.  We work year round.  Summers are spent getting ready for the next year, and then the whole school year is spent updating as things change.

This summer will be spent getting ready for the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS) that we will be using this year.  I am really excited about these; however, I am very nervous too!  It is difficult to adjust to change, no matter how exciting it is!  I am already trying to get my units in order, working on a new lesson plan template, and learning about the CCSS.  Hopefully, I can stay one step ahead of all the changes.
